The palace of Knosós and its surroundings - 3D virtual reality tour

South house

The hall is in the middle storey of the west side of the house. Both here and in the Crypt below, stands for "Double Axes" were found perhaps a sign of the sanctity of these rooms. There may also have been a stand for other objects on the east side of the crypt's pillar where three depressions have been noted. A hoard of silver vessels was found in the doorway at the bottom of the stairs. Only foundations of the rest of the building exist to the south, while to the west, one can just see part of the Stepped Portico onto the drain of which the South House encroached when built at the beginning of the Late Bronze Age.
