The Scottish Hellenic Society of Glasgow ( is happy to remind readers of its Greek Weekend coming up shortly on May 19-20, 2018.

Following its successful forerunners in Edinburgh (in 2014) and Aberdeen (in 2016), this event aims to bring together members of the several Hellenic Societies in Scotland, the Friends of the British School at Athens and Greeks and philhellenes living in Britain.

On Saturday May 19, at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in central Glasgow, there will be talks on topics ranging from Herakles (by Emma Stafford), the modern history of political exiles on the island of Anafi (by Margaret Kenna) to sculpture (by Sandy Stoddart, Queen's Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland), as well as a presentation of the Work of the British School at Athens (by its Director, John Bennet).

On Sunday May 20 tours will take place of the Glasgow necropolis and neo-classical buildings in the city.

For further programme details, please go to the Society's web-site.
