Welcome to our new Williams Fellow!
We are delighted to welcome Tunç Kaner as the next Williams Fellow in Ceramic Petrology, at the Fitch Laboratory.
Tunç is an archaeologist working at the intersection of field archaeology and ceramic science. His research centres on Ceramic Energetics, an approach that combines ceramic petrology, experimental archaeology and quantitative modelling to read the human labour behind ancient pottery, from the preparation of the clay to the firing of the vessel.
He says “I am honoured to join the Fitch Laboratory as the new Williams Fellow in Ceramic Petrology. In this role, I will pursue my own research while also contributing to the laboratory’s ongoing projects and to the care and development of its ceramic petrology facilities and thin-section collection.”
We all wish Tunç well in his new fellowship and look forward to working with him – “Καλή αρχή!”
