Volunteer and work experience placements
As part of our commitment to training and outreach, the British School at Athens is pleased to offer work experience and volunteer placements to university level students and above. Opportunities are currently open at Athens in the Administration Department, Archive, Fitch Laboratory, Library and Museum, at the BSA’s Knossos Research Centre, and on a limited number of off-site digital placements.
We are happy to accept volunteer applications from individuals based locally, or from those abroad who have secured funding through an external source (e.g. a university scholarship, Erasmus+, Turing Scheme). From time to time small bursaries may be available to support travel for volunteer placements.
Volunteer applications are reviewed four times and year, at the beginning of March, June, September and December. Applicants can submit their email here and receive a link to an online application where they can state which department they are seeking an internship in as well as indicate a referee to write on their behalf.
The Knossos Curatorial Project operates its own volunteer scheme, with bursaries available to support travel to Crete.
