My research focuses on the Linear B tablets from Late Bronze Age (Mycenaean) Greece; I am particularly interested in using these administrative documents to reconstruct the practices of the people who made and wrote on them. At the BSA I am working on a project entitled “WRiting At Pylos (WRAP): palaeography, tablet production, and the work of the Mycenaean scribes”, which combines an epigraphic study of the handwriting of the writers working at the site of Pylos, in southwestern mainland Greece, with experimental work on the methods by which the clay tablets were made. This project has received funding by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement no. 885977.
Prior to joining the BSA I held a Research Fellowship in Classics at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, and was an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Classics and a Fellow of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research.
