Application to Study at the Stratigraphical Museum in Knossos

Please make a brief description in the Material/Collection field and send an email with document attached with COMPLETE references to the material concerned, mentioning the permanent storage place of material.

If published material, full bibliographic references are required in addition to photocopies of any relevant illustrations that will assist identification.

If unpublished material, please ensure written permission from the excavator is enclosed; or similar permission from the BSA, if that is not possible.

If Sampling is intended, additional permits will need to be processed through the School Administrator (See Individual Study Permits).

Terms and Conditions

PERMISSION TO STUDY IN THE STRATIGRAPHICAL MUSEUM AT KNOSSOS IS SUBJECT TO THE STRATIGRAPHICAL MUSEUM (SM) REGULATIONS.

No archaeological material is allowed outside the Stratigraphical Museum.
No unauthorised persons are allowed into any parts of the Stratigraphical Museum.
Anyone studying/publishing material stored permanently or temporarily at the Stratigraphical Museum should show the Curator on arrival their copy of study/publication permit.

Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 17:00

Study permissions are granted for 5 years at which time one must reapply to the School for an extension.
Copies of all photos need to be given to the BSA.
