Greek Friends’ Event – poetry reading
Andrea Applebee, “Sex, Power, and Poetry: Inspirations and Challenges from the Classics”
Event Description: Let’s gather to speak to how these ways of relating shape each other. The language of the body and the language of the soul have long courted, negotiated with, and defied expressions of power, inspired, and witnessed. This event will combine poetry by Andrea Applebee with excerpts of classical poetry and drama, as well as with contributions of other writers and thinkers on these urgent themes. This chorus will be followed by an open discussion, which artists working with different media are invited to participate in.
