Welcome to our Library / Archive team
A warm welcome to Kira Hollebon (University of Reading) who has arrived in Athens as the 2022-2023 Library / Archive intern.
Kira recently graduated from the University of Reading with a BA in Museum and Classical Studies. Alongside her studies, Kira has worked at the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) and volunteered virtually on a transcription project with the Mills Archive Trust. During these placements, she gained various hands-on experiences, rehousing material from the MERL’s Ladybird Book artwork collection and shadowing a book conservator. During the final stages of her degree, Kira produced a temporary student exhibition for the MERL.
Kira is joined in the Archive this semester by volunteer Sam Newmarch (University of Manchester). Sam studied a BA in History at the University of Sheffield before completing an MA in History at the University of Manchester, focusing on Commonwealth migration in the wake of World War Two. He has previously volunteered at a number of local archives around London. At the BSA he is currently working on the Sylvia Benton collection and dreaming of one day replicating the routes she hiked around the Peloponnese.
We look forward to working with both Kira and Sam over the coming year. Καλή αρχή!
