Library and Archive Intern 2024 – Melissa Bergoffen
Melissa Bergoffen is our new Library & Archive Intern for 2024, who arrived at the BSA at the end of February. We’re delighted to have Melissa as part of the team! Καλή αρχή!
Melissa writes: My name is Melissa Bergoffen, and I am the new Library and Archive Intern at the BSA. I have studied at the University of Glasgow (undergrad, Archaeology & Classical Civilizations), Pratt Institute (MS, Library and Information Science), and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (MA, Greek and Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology). Previously, I’ve participated in excavations at the Athenian Agora and at The Speaker’s House in Trappe, PA, and I’ve worked in various academic and public libraries as well as The Lutheran Archives in Philadelphia. However, my interests are in Classical figured pottery, especially red-figure depictions of women, as well as information and database management, so now being able to work in an archaeology-focused library is the perfect combination. I’m very much looking forward to all of the opportunities this internship will undoubtedly provide within both the library/archive and archaeology spheres!
