Welcome to the BSA Artist Researcher in Residence, Fitch Bursary holder and AIO Fellow
We are delighted to give a warm welcome to our Artist Researcher in Residence, Fitch Bursary holder and AIO Fellow who are all currently working at the BSA this month.
Abbie Vickress is a PhD candidate at the University of the Arts London, using practice research to explore design pluralism in museum exhibitions. She is the 2026 BSA Artist Researcher in Residence, creating visual, audio and interactive experiments to explore the role communication design plays in shaping how histories, heritage and archaeological artefacts are interpreted. Her artist talk takes place on Mon 4 May online & in-person at the BSA, don’t miss it!
Anna-Maria Sdralia is a PhD Candidate at the University of Granada and her research focuses on the Roman and Late Roman metallurgy of central Spain. She is a Fitch Bursary holder and during her stay at the BSA she will be investigating the recipes of metallurgical ceramics, both furnaces and moulds, and the provenance of the clay, through thin-section petrography.
Claudio Huayna is affiliated with the University of Heidelberg and has recently completed his PhD on lottery systems (sortition) in Classical Athens. He is currently at the BSA as an AIO Fellow (Attic Inscriptions Online), where he will be staying until 13 May. In this capacity, he is working on the translation, commentary, and digital publication (via AIO) of a corpus of inscriptions from the Theatre of Dionysus, originally published in Inscriptiones Graecae II/III³ 4.3 (1881-2029).
